Conyers, Ga. - Less than week after Ron
Young returned to the track for the first time in the 2006 NASCAR Busch
Series season at Martinsville, the Conyers, Ga driver is getting back
in the saddle
Young and his family-owned RB1 Motorsports team will head to the St.
Louis area this weekend for the Busch Silver Celebration 250 at Gateway
International Raceway.
Gateway's 1.25-mile oval has been good to Young and his No. 71 Chevrolet
in the past. In three races there, he's finished in the top 20 each time,
including a 14th place showing in 2003 that is one of his two career-best
14th place finishes. The 2003 finish was also Young's best improvement
from his starting position during a race when he gained 29 positions
to finish 14th after starting 43rd.
"We've had some good runs there in the past when we've gone to St. Louis.
It's been real good to us," Young said. "Hopefully we can go up there
and have another good run."
In last year's event, Young started 22nd and finished 19th in his first
Busch Series race since November of 2005.
"We're taking a car with a 2006 body with us. Last weekend, we had a
2005 body on the car. I think we'll be in better shape this weekend."
Young is still seeking sponsorship for this weekend's race and other
events later in the season. Interested parties can contact the team at
its shop at (770) 922-1275 or e-mail them here.
